Playstation 5 vertical stand (Slim/Pro edition)
Why this little project started
I wanted to give back to the community by creating a free vertical stand model for the PS5 Slim. At the time, there was only one model available online, but it was paid, and I felt there was a need for a more accessible option.
The Challenge: The Odd Underside of the PS5
The biggest challenge was the unique and somewhat awkward dimensions of the PS5’s underside. To accurately design the stand, I needed a somewhat precise scan of that surface.
Trying Phone Scanners: A No-Go
I initially tried using phone scanning apps, but they just didn’t provide the level of detail I needed. So, I had to get a bit creative.

The Solution: Using an A4 Printer Scanner
Instead of relying on phone apps, I used an A4 printer scanner. I scanned the underside of the PS5, which gave me a raw image that looked like this.
After some exposure adjustments, resulted in a surprisingly good scan of the underbody.
Bringing the Design to Life in Creo
I imported the scanned image into Creo, a 3D CAD software, and started designing the vertical stand around the measurements. The goal was to create a raw prototype to test fit, but this later ended being almost a final design.
Test Fit and First Publication
After completing the design, I 3D-printed the stand and did a test fit on my own PS5. The fit was great, so I went ahead and published the model for the community to download and use.

A Final Revision: Testing on MakerWorld
After sony released a PRO model of Playstation 5, I received feedback from a user on MakerWorld. Based on their experience, I made a few adjustments to improve the fit further, resulting in a final revision that addressed any potential issues.
